FAQ’s and More Information

How many people are going?

We are a group of 12 plus 2 leaders (Stu and Fran).

What type of yoga retreat is it? I’m only a beginner so are the classes suitable for me?

We will practice different styles of yoga which will be suitable for beginners and more advanced students. Stu (your host) will teach some of the classes and we will also get to experience local Indian teachers too, so you get a full yogic experience. All teachers are very experienced and offer posture variations to accommodate different abilities.

Where do we stay and what’s the sleeping arrangements?

We stay in a beautifuly quiet 4 star beachfront resort just steps away from the beach. Shops, ayurevedic spas and restaurants are a short walk. It’s a quiet location in lush tropical surroundings. The rooms all have either 2 single beds or a queen size bed, full air conditioning, ensuite bathroom and  a balcony. Should you wish to not share and have your own room, please enquire for additional cost.

What’s the food like? Is it really spicy and do you accommodate dietary requirements?

We will eat traditional vegan South Indian food using fresh ingredients prepared by a local chef. The food is not spicy and there will be a wide selection of different dishes to sample during each meal. We will do our best to accommodate dietary requirements but cannot guarantee certain dietary restrictions so please speak to our nutritionist Fran before booking.

Who are the leaders, and will I be safe travelling on my own?

Stu and Fran will be your guides during the 10 day retreat. Stu has run 2 retreats to Kerala previously and has travelled extensively throughout India, since 2004. Both Fran and Stu have been running retreats for more than 10 years, both in the UK and abroad. We pride ourselves on creating a safe and fun adventure for our guests. Varkala is in the state of Kerala and is a very safe tourist destination offering a relaxed vibe. You will see many female tourists and locals walking on their own in Varkala from early in the morning until late at night.

What excursions and trips are included?

We pride ourselves on offering you a complete India experience beyond the standard yoga retreat and so all excursions are included in the price. We travel in a private air conditioned mini bus. You will enjoy trips to famous temples, beaches, kayaking trip through the famous backwaters, Sivananda Yoga Ashram, traditional local markets, and of course shopping. How do we get to the resort from the airport?
